Sexy Navy Uniform

If you follow my Twitter, you have probably seen a lot of whining/hating/happiness about a navy dress I was sewing for Coco. It all started months ago, even before the hanbok, when I decided I wanted to do this dress... I was mainly drawn to it by the idea of the neck/cleavage line. Originally, the dress was going to be indigo blue and old golden, but then -after a suggestion- switched to red, blue and white, as they are more "navy" colors. The dress looks pretty... French? with all those colors, but I don't mind. Coco's character is French.

I will be doing a separated blog post about the handmade shoes, with a little story attached to it and if everything goes right another post with another photo (if I'm able to take it as I want it to look) and a more detailed story attached to it, too.

Anyways. I finished the garrison hat today, and was so excited about the whole look of the dress, that I completely forgot to glue to it the boat-golden-decoration that hubby helped me to prepare. I took tons of pictures, and then I realized my mistake, and glue it. Gonna take pictures later and add them to this blog.

This dress took me so much time to sew it, because I was trying a new type of hand-sewn stitch, that doesn't require me to do the top-stitching, but it is slow as hell. And the neck line. That was a major pain to make that work with Coco's boobs because as always I didn't want them to look bobbling fake, but natural pushed.

Also, the dress is fully lined, and that took me a lot of time to do.

I'm sorry for the lack of awesome poses, but I went a little bit crazy with the tightness of the dress (as you could see on the profile shot), and Coco can barely move her legs, so no ultra-model pose with her legs for this dress.

Also, here are some close ups of the handmade shoes (incoming post about them, later this week):

Well, and that was all. I will add the update with the garrison ha with the boat pin later, hopefully, tomorrow. In the meantime, have some more Coco at vintage style:

EDIT: here I have a pic of the finished hat!! :D I love how it looks with the golden boat pin on it.

  1. Hi! This dress is just GORGEOUS! The fabric doesn't look like an easy fabric to hand sew, the result is beautiful! The little hat is great too :-). I look forward to your post about the shoes.

    1. Hello!! Thank you so much for the compliments!!! The fabric is satin, and it does fray a lot on the edges. If everything goes well, tomorrow I will take the pics for the post about the shoes!

    1. Thank you!!! It was pretty complex to sew, indeed. The neckline gave me so much headaches. And also thanks for the compliments on Coco and the photos! She is my favorite model :3
