Between Crystal Jars

Hello! Today I want to share my weird attempt of photographing Coco's new outfit (pink tulip dress, satin jacket, and crochet purse) between crystal cups and jars! Actually, this is my second attempt at this photoshoot, since I didn't like the first one at all (Instagram here).

The jars and cups are my mom's, and it is actually a very funny anecdote how I asked her twice to lend me these things. I'm even considering a thing attempt, because I'm sure that either Cookie or Merry would fit inside one of the jugs, and I'm very curious about it!

Anyways, I will share those funny moments and more pics after the cut!

Well, the first time I went to my mom's and asked her if she had a spare box! Her face, poor mom. Then I asked her to lend me some of her crystal cups, and if she could put them on the box, because it would be easier to carry them to my home if they were all neatly packaged on a box! I used them with extreme carefulness, but when I was packing them back, one of the smaller cups broke! I don't know how! I felt so guilty, but my mom was always really forgiving when I broke things as a child, and she told me the usual "if things didn't broke, what would do the people that make the thing for a living?". Awesome mum.

Anyways, during the week, I went with the hubby to the paper-store, and got four new backgrounds! Specially this one of the flowers that I ended up using! Anyways, yesterday I went again to my mom, and this time we measured the jars and cups, and I ended up bringing this two because they were the bigger ones, and were also very heavy! What did I learn? I need bigger things to use as props on bigger dolls xD

I love the reflection on Coco's face on the last photo!

Also, the purse was on our Etsy for a lot of time (I think 8 or 10 months), but since it didn't sell, I asked my mom if I could keep it, and she said yes! So now Coco has a pretty bag, which I filled with some glass marbles, so the it would look "heavy" and with "weight" on the photos :P

And the next one is one of my favorites! I must confess it took me a while to balance Coco on the jars, mostly because I didn't want her falling, pushing the jars, and breaking everything. Definitely not after I broke one of the cups!

And that was all! What did you think of my almost-experiment? I definitely need to get Cookie or Merry inside the smaller jar! Hahaha! Anyways, thank you so much for staying with me through all those photos!

By the way, did you got anything dolly-related on Black Friday? Are you participating on the BJD Xmas events? Hope you are all doing great!

  4. I really like these photos, Coco looks so classy! Using the crystal jars was a clever idea, I think they fit this "fashion magazine" type of photoshoot perfectly :D I also love how she's wearing those crystal shoes, I can't stop admiring them...

Coco's clothes look beautiful as well, I especially adore that jacket! Was that hard to do? Did you use some existing pattern or create it yourself from scratch? I need to figure out how to make a jacket like that for my Iplehouse girl, I haven't been able to find a suitable one anywhere for her size -_- I always struggle the most with jackets and coats...

    1. Thank you so much!! I love those crystal shoes so much, I need more resin shoes for her, hahaha!

Thanks for the comment about the clothes :3
The hardest part of the jacket to me was getting the sleeve/outer side/lining together. The rest was slow, but not hard. It is made with the same pattern for the other jacket I did, but with slight modifications (on the sleeves, the neckline, etc.). I made it myself. Maybe I can email you and give you more insight on how I made it?
