Shimmering Red

Sometime ago, the lovely Roterwolkenvogel sent me some props for my diorama, and I have been wanting to send her something as a thank you. Considering that she also helped me when I was searching for the correct eye size for Venezia, and later sent me photos for the video review I made... I though, why not make a dress for her amazing Pazuzu?

So, here it is! The dress is completely sewn by hand, as always, and this time I dared to 'embroider' it a little. I must confess, I'm so proud of that corset fitting, honestly. No wrinkles, regardless the embroidering!!! But, as with all sewing, I also have some anecdotes to share... under the cut!

I had the idea for that photo since I was sewing the train!! Since I put the doll on a table to take the photos, I had to completely expand the tripod, and the flip the camera screen so I could see something from under it (the fully extended tripod is way taller than me, and I'm not short). Then, I had to balance my reflective screen (homemade, mind you) to get some light on Venezia's front, because the camera made some shadows... I think I took like 30 shots of the same, because I got them blurry, badly focused, then bad light, and so on.

I also had the idea of a red dress with black embroidery wrote on fire on my mind, honestly. I had a good amount of red fabric, but I wasn't sure it would be enough... so I went to my prop-service-errrr-mom's-house and asked her if I could see her fabrics, and if she had a French lace in particular shape/size. And then I found that iridescent fabric! She had some lace, but it was stiff... although what I was looking for where flowers or something small that I could cut and sew one by one on the dress. Picture me later cutting those leaves with a teeny tiny scissor. My index finger hated me after that, it was swollen and red, and cold (I made this dress on June, during a cold winter). But it was worthy!!!

Of course, I had to sew all those button loops by hand. It is a shame they look so pretty and that I cannot find tiny zippers in here, because it is boring!!! And the last button -they are actually pearls- is right on her butt, so it is quite a challenge to fasten it, and it keeps opening! I don't know what that might mean xDD

That shawl was made by mom for me some years ago, but it is still one of my faves. When I told her about ordering my first doll, Coco, she asked me some measures and made several shawls for me. This is one of them :D She is so skilled and does amazing stuff, honestly. I do hope someday to have some of her skill on crochet.

Anyways. When I sent this dress to Roterwolkenvogel in June, I asked her if she would allow me to post some of her photos of Pazuzu (she always takes amazing photos) wearing my dress... and here they are!!

That was all for today. I hope my sewing rambling did not annoy you, but I'm really happy about this dress and all. I want to make some Regency for both Coco and Venezia, as well as Beauty & Beast outfits for them too :3 Do you have any project going on? Or incoming package? Have a great weekend!

    2. Great dress, she looks perfect in it. I had to smile thinking of how this hobby connects people from all over the world and makes people think about other peoples dolls in way you'd think about a friend's kid. I've never met either of you, but whenever I see Pazuzu now I'll know. Another tiny knot in the web of connections :). Thanks for sharing.
