Doll Granado Enoch, The Dark Lord version.

How did Granado started? Granado is a studio that specializes in making ball jointed dolls in Mainland China, established in April, 2011. Crocus Lee has worked on sculpting dolls for a long time. In the past, we only made custom heads from customer’s orders, and the old brand name is “Cinderella”. “Cinderella” has been running for about 2 years. Then, when we had our first male doll, we decided to step into the worldwide market, as a token for moving into this new stage, we change the old “Cinderella” brand name to “Granado”.

What is Granado’s aim or aesthetic goal when sculpting?
Crocus Lee LOVE to focus on mature and real sculptures, this is his expertise. Although not often, sometimes we do younger sculpt. We want to show everyone Crocus can do many different style sculpts.

What is your process to make a new doll? Do you have a workplace?
To make a head or doll body, Crocus is need to pay attention to the characteristics of different human races. Then we listen to our customers’ comments. We are quite respect of our customers’ feedback. In addition, we are particular about the details, so it takes a lot of time to produce a doll body. We have a studio in He Fei. All of our staffs (except me, Ikaru) are working there. Speaking of our working space, we have finished our renovation lately. Here are 2 pictures to show you our big decoration.

Now you also have the VinDoll line! How did this idea started?
Crocus has an ambition, he hoped that one day everyone could own a beautiful doll created by him. But due to BJD usually costing quite a fortune, not all of us could afford one. After brainstorming and consideration, Crocus believed soft vinyl fashion doll is the answer.

You mostly focus on big 1/3 dolls. Have you considering making other sizes?
Sure we have! We have Titan(75cm+) and Mini(40cm+) size dolls. However, Crocus feels satisfy when he’s making 70cm+ male dolls. So, in the near future we will focus to make this size’ dolls. But 40cm+ fashion dolls are also in our considering list.

  1. Thank you for an interesting interview. I have Udell on my "wish list", and I would love to see some of Crocus' handsome men made in vinyl in the fashion doll size of about 17". I really do love Crocus' male sculpts.

  3. Love this interview, especially their display unit. Something like that would be marvelous to display my dolls, except I would have no place to put it! I seriously hope Granado gets into the smaller fashion doll size. I love their dolls but they are way too big for me.

    1. I'm glad you liked the interview!!
I do wish they'd do more mature minis, and not neccesary fashion dolls, but oh well. That size has really become popular!
