BJDs from Aimerai
How many people work at Aimerai Designs? Do you have any workflow?
Aimerai is just a small company with a few members. Right now, the main persons in Aimerai are:
  1. Ida – Director – Responsible on Marketing and Company Direction
  2. Hannah – Sculptor & Chief designer – BJDs Design and Development.
  3. Rivaliie – Photographer & designer - Photographing and graphic design.
Maybe as you know, we are working with CODENOiR as the support of BJD accessories, such as wigs, clothes and shoes. We always trust their wonder craftsmanship for presenting our concepts. Also, their ideas are always help us for the development.
Normally, we are generating ideas via our brainstorming meeting. We need around 6 months from the concept ideas to the actual BJD prototype for pre-ordering. Thus, we hope all fans will love our designs and works. Also, please feel free to let us know if fans have any ideas and concepts. We will try to discuss about it in our brainstorming meeting certainly.

How did you discover BJDs? Were you a collector for a long time?
Ida: My BJD hobby started since 2003. With the influence of my relatives who is a super fan of Japanese Animation and BJDs, I have tried my best to get all information of BJDs. Since I am a Candle artist at that moment, I was surprised that the development and production of BjDs and Candles are so similar. (Related to the silicone mold and Resin). Thus, I have started my small BJDs company in 2005 and start the selling of BJDs in 2006. However, because of the family issues, I have slow down my small BJDs brand at the end of 2010, until I meet my partners on 2014.

Hannah: I have study in Art when I am a child and my major is Visual Art in University, thus, I am always have a strong interest on Visual and Audio Arts. I have been exposed to BJD via magazine when I am still a student. Lucky, my first job is working as a assistant Sculptor in a Bjds company. With my passion of Arts and experience of BJDs, I would like to create a special world of BJDs. After meeting Ida and other partners, we started Aimerai.com

Now you have an amazing variety of sculpts and dolls in your store! How did that started? What inspired you from them? Is there any style that is your favorite?
Hannah: At first, we wanted to create some characters from the old and famous fairy tale world. Thus, we pick the OZ series as our first theme in Aimerai. However, the popularity of Oz are not high as our expected. Thus, Aimerai tried many other styles and theme such as Unicorn, small pets, etc. In this stage of changing, we encountered the bottleneck. It is lucky that my partner Ida is staying with me with lot of suggestion, help and motivation, thus, Aimerai is still here for creating our own tale of BJDs.
I really like the work of illustrator James Jean. I also like many movies and animation. I am grateful that these outstanding artists have brought me a lot of feelings about beauty. I don't want to be limited to a style, cute Gothic anime or classical style. When I have some illusions in my mind, and casting them as dolls will bring me a lot of happiness. In the future, I hope to fine-tune my favorite theme - Gothic style.
Moreover, the doll pictures from fans also give me a lot of motivation. Thanks for their support :)

You have also worked with CODENOiR. How did this collaboration started? Are you considering more of them?
Ida: I have a long personal relationship with CODENOiR (~16 yeas lol). Thus, I know that they can provide the best BJD accessories such as wigs, clothes and shoes for our development. Also, CODENOiR have worked with many other famous BJDs companies (such as Rosenlied, Angel Philia, DollZone, DollChateau, LinaChouChou, etc.) for special limited edition dolls. Thus, it is our honor to work with them and we are considering more collaboration certainly.

Aimerai x CODENOiR collaborations.

Which plans do you have for the future? Do you have any new releases planned?
Ida: For short term plan, because of the opinion of fans, we would like to develop our 65 – 70cm Boy. Hope all fans will love them. In fact, I really want to attend to more foreign conventions, however, as I am a mother of 2 daughters (one is 12 years old and one is 2 years old) , it is quite difficult to join the foreign conventions personally. Thus, I hope we can find more partners and retailers, so they can represent us for conventions. We hope Aimerai can always interact with fans.
