Tag: Sisterhood of the World Blog

Hello everybody! I've been tagged by jSarie from Revenge of the Toy Box for making this tag! It is not made from the classic questions, so I found it very interesting, and decided to make it. As far as I know, the tag comes from the Sisterhood of the World Blog award, and has two main steps:
  1. Answer then questions.
  2. Tag five people so they will continue the game.
So, I'm going to answer my questions, and tag all the people at the bottom of the entry. Hope you will all join, even if you are not tagged!!

1. Do you collect anything other than dolls?
No, I don't. However, I love gaming and have a nice games library both on EA-Origins and Steam. Do those count? I don't know.

I could also say I hoard fabrics, because my fabric stash is so dang big! I have lots of boxes, all sorted out by type of fabric. Nevertheless, this are part of my doll hobby, and I don't collect them... I simply hoard them because I have more ideas than time to sew!

2. Why did you start a doll blog?
This dates back to 2012. Back on that time, I had only a small tiny BJD I made by myself (I still have her, only that I don't take pics of her), and I really wanted a place to share my things and all. I did had a DoA account but I didn't participated because I felt out of place without a resin ABJD.

By December 2012, I was going around the idea of a blog, thinking it would maybe be too much work, and studying if I really wanted to compromise myself with a blog... and I told the hubby (boyfriend at that time) my idea. His answer was "Why not? Go ahead and do it!". After that, we even brainstormed together names for the blog.

And here I am! Nearing 3 years of my blog on this December, I really love to post in here, and to me, is my main avenue to share my adventures on this hobby.

3. Do you have one particular doll that is the favorite in your collection?
Yes, Coco! She is not only the first, but getting her also made me realize that everything is possible with patience, time and effort. She went from "Coco" to "my princess" to the current "my queen". I guess that says it all.

4. Your favorite doll accessory?
This year I got several nice props (the couch, the music stand, the clothes hanger), but my all time favorite accessory would be Coco's saxophone. It is made of metal, the mouth piece is made of rubber and the reed is made of tiny thin wood! Love all those details.
I'm really sad I can't get more of those miniature instruments, because they are so perfect and well executed!

5. Do you know exactly how many dolls you have in your collection (you don't have to tell the number of course :-) )
Yes, I know. I have three resin ABJDs: Coco, Cookie and Merry (not counting Calina because she is not mine), and two non-resin BJDs: one made by me and one made by a doll friend of mine, that was a past birthday present.
Maybe, if someone is interested I can take a picture of those two?

6. Do you play any instruments and if so, what?
Yes, in fact, I also have a musical degree xD
I play flute and I also play piccolo, but I was never able to buy the latter. I also play piano, but I only have an old keyboard, and its been years since I last practiced on a real piano. I do keep playing flute, though. Sometimes I even sit my dolls near my when playing.

7. Where is your most favourite place you've ever been?
Years ago (I believe 2011 or 2010 I can't remember) I had traveled on winter (July) to my hubby's (boyfriend, back then) city, and when I woke up one day, it was snowing. All the trees were white, the grass was white, and snowflakes were pouring like rain (take in mind that I live on a city were it does not snow, so that was my first time seeing snow in person...). I was ecstatic! I couldn't stop watching such landscape (even if it only was a plain neighborhood during a snow)! We went outside his house and the first thing I did was grab snow and throw it to him xD
It was like in the movies!

8. What is your most favourite thing about yourself?
I like a lot of things about myself, but I respect my own privacy about this, so no answers here. This also applies to why I only answer hobby memes and not personal stuff.

9. Favourite book or movie?
Gosh, this is a hard one. I have read so much, so many genres. When I was young I assaulted my mom's historical novels collections (I guess that is her favorite genre) and read a lot of novels situated on the Roman Empire. I have also read several books from Carl Sagan (I have like six or five), LOTR, fantasies, mistery genre, dectives, young adult novels... gosh, I even get in Archive of our Own and read fan-fictions about games I like (mostly Dragon Age, The Witcher and Mass Effect). Thinking of it, I even read The DaVinci Code! xD

Picking books is so hard, but I guess I will set up with three (linking to Amazon, in case anyone is interested). The first two are I, Claudius and its sequel Claudius the God: And His Wife Messalina. I read those two a lot of time ago... five or six years, maybe? But loved them. Poor Claudius had to face a lot of things, and I really liked not only how it was written (first person, from Claudius PoV) and how it described things.

From more modern books, I love Insurgent, from Divergent Series. Loved the character of Tris Prior. She is wasn't perfect, she had lots of flaws, but I felt she was real and empathized a lot with that character.

Still need to read The Hunger Games, and Maze Runner, among other young adults sagas. I also want to read The Witcher books, and several books from Dragon Age (mostly Last Flight and... all of them to be honest).

10. If you could design your own doll, how would it look like?
Well... in fact, I have a pretty big story with tons of characters, lots of diversity... and that is precisely why I would never shell any character from that story: they are just too many, and most of them are fantasy characters that would be a PITA to hybrid on BJDs.
So if I could design my own doll, it would be the main character of that story.

  2. Hi, I enjoyed reading the answers! Yes, I would love to see pictures of your two non-resin BJDs, it's always great to see dolls that are handmade! The saxophone is beautiful, it looks so real :-).

    1. Thank you!! I try to do a small photoshoot of those two tinies then :3
The saxophone is, in fact, part of the Salvat Miniature Musical Instruments Collection. I got it with a small magazine for less than $10. It would look perfectly in-scale for SD dolls, though.

I didn't know that you have non-resin BJDs as well! It'd be great to see photos of them too :) I love seeing self-made and artist dolls~

I'm not much of a reader nowadays, but I do want to read The Witcher books too! The recent game was awesome and got me hooked on the world, story and characters, so I'd love to find out even more about them >3<

  5. This was very interesting to read, dear! I loved your little story about seeing snow for the first time. :D I can imagine how exciting it most have been!

Oooh, how I miss reading! I used to read all the time when I was younger, but suddenly it got harder and harder for me to concentrate to read. :( I'm really hoping it's something I can improve on again. There's so many books I still want to read!!

    1. Glad you think so! I still remember that day, I have never been on a snow after that either, but it was amazing to see snow for the first time! (considering that I was... 20 or 21? I can't remember exactly).
I believe that if you slowly start reading again, you will get the hand of it fast enough, more if what you are reading catches your attention! Maybe a well-written fanfic of your OTP?

  6. I loved reading your answers - it's always fun to get to know the people behind the dolls a little. And I'll add another voice to the people who are curious to see your non-resin BJDs!

I have "Last Flight" sitting on my bookshelf unread - you've reminded me to pick it up again! :)

May I envy you regarding "Last Flight"? I want the DA books so badly!!

    2. Looking forward to the photos! :)

To be honest, the early DA books weren't great, but I've found the more recent ones (especially Asunder and The Masked Empire) to be much improved (and very entertaining).

    3. Well, I'm curious regarding the first ones because it is my understanding that Flemeth appears on them, plus to know a little more about The Architect. Asunder is on my top to read because Wynne! I loved her character, and The Masked Empire to get to know Celene more :3
I definitely need to read them!
