Goals 2017

This was supposed to be the first post of the year, but box opening came first!! I hope you had a wonderful start of 2017! As mandatory for me, I want to share with you the BJD goals I have set for myself for this year. I do hope to achieve more, do better, and feel more accomplished at the end of this year that what it was in 2016.

Goals 2017

Here are my goals! I do hope to achieve most of them:
  1. My dolls have two stories: one for the fairies (Cookie and Merry), and one for the minis (Coco, Venezia and other dolls on my wishlist). I want to start sharing more about that. I already did it on the previous Christmas post, but I want to do it more, write, and share that writing.
  2. Reorganize my blog. Mostly organize the categories to hold the new stories, fix the menu for mobile devices, and do other minor changes.
  3. There are several video reviews I would like to do and share with you, from the urethane eyes I bought (the tracking of one package updated!), the IH Pet Doll, and more!
  4. Finish the tree stump diorama. I want to make a lot of furniture, and a video for the furniture.
  5. Take more photos of my dolls. I realized that between projects and my dislike for Coco's current Eyecos, I do not take as many photos of them as I would want.
  6. I would like to open my sewing commissions again. I would love to sew more period fashion! And now I can also sew for JIDs!
  7. Regarding the Etsy, I think the goal is simple: have an event that makes people interested in purchasing from us, and sell more stock items and not only commissions.
  8. Wishlist, maybe? This would highly depend on how are customs working, the money I have and all, but I would like to buy:
    • Some furniture for Coco and Venezia. This would be an expensive purchase, not only for the items but for the customs fee, probably.
    • Eyes for Kitty Cookie.
    • Stands and other small tool things from Coolcat. This is the least important thing.
    • Shoes for Venezia.
  9. Last year I left many sewing projects without doing: there is a dress for Coco I want to remake, two outfits for Calina I want to gift to my mom, and obviously a crap ton load of things to sew for Venezia.
  10. Continue with my knitting adventures! I must knit at least one thing!

Okay, I know I whine way too much about customs, but you truly have no idea how bad regarding the hobby that has made me feel. However, this is a fresh new year and having Venezia at home has improved my mood and hopes. Good enough, the "blocked" package moved, and so did one of the urethane eyes packages! Although the bday presents, the oldest packages, are still stuck and now the tracking does not work.

Hope you are having a great start of the year! Do you have any doll goals for this year?

  2. What a nice and great list and I hope that you can do all on it. I really enjoy visiting your blog, it is so varying with stories, interviews, photos and tutorials! And whine away about the customs, we read and support!
Hope that you get your packages very soon! Don’t let the customs cloud this hobby, even if I feel you there.

  4. Thank you very much!!
It is really frustrating, honestly. Most because I have to pay a crazy amount of customs fee for each package, and even there, the system is so broken!

  6. Great goals, I'm sure you can achieve them this year :D
How is your customs about 'gift' packages? :O do they hold them and/or charge fees also? Do they count towards the limit? Otherwise I could send you a package with some things you might need ~

    1. Thank you so much!!

Well, gifts does not exists. I have a fixed fee of $10 I always have to pay, plus, a percentage of the package value. If the package is marked as $0, they invent the value xD. If I cannot declare exactly what the package contains, I need to go to customs and have the package open by inspectors so they can see what it is inside.

The limit does not exist anymore, except when buying though couriers like UPS or FedEX. However, when the limit was on, at least I had to pay a lot less =S

And thank you! That is so kind of you *blushes* But please don't worry :) I'm not sure if my packages unblocked because of time, or because the system is starting to work.

    1. Oh wow Musume! What a big rack of goals you have set yourself!! I do hope you manage to achieve them all. I'm not setting any goals as such this year, apart from not purchasing any more BJD, but knowing me, that could change in a heartbeat. :)
I am determined though to finish posting about my projects, too often in the past I take photos in the beginning, then forget to take more when I'm halfway through and by the end, I don't even think about posting . . . naughty of me I know.
Anyway, good luck with your goals.
      Big Hugs,
      X

P.S. Sorry about the previous comment . . . spelling error needed correcting. :)
